My daughters (18, 16) grew up at a great time for books and movies. We caught the second golden era of Disney. Harry Potter was slightly before them, but that meant mom and I got to read them and then share them. Marvel came along when they were teens.
It was so much fun.
My favorite Marvel stories were those of Thor. Rock music, Norse myths, and humor. The kids were into it, it was great. During Covid, the neighborhood kids must have made 100 videos reenacting Avengers Assemble.
My favorite Marvel move is Ragnarok. In it, Thor meets his equal, his older sister. Who surprises everyone by not only stopping Thor’s hammer, but destroying it. This causes quite the crisis of confidence for Thor. But, at this lowest, he sees his father in a vision who asks, are you the god of hammers?
No, Thor is the God of Thunder. Cue Led Zeppelin.
This is why I don’t read email at work. It’s part of the job, but like the hammer, it’s not really part of the job.
